Chapter Rules

These bylaws are a working draft, prepared while the chapter is standing up — they have not yet been adopted by a chapter vote or reviewed against the Gamma Iota Sigma national Alumni Council's requirements.

1. Name & Affiliation

This organization is the Gamma Iota Sigma Tampa Bay Alumni Chapter ("the Chapter"), operating under the authority of, and in accordance with the governing documents of, Gamma Iota Sigma, the International Risk Management, Insurance and Actuarial Science Fraternity ("the National Fraternity"), and coordinating with the National Fraternity's Alumni Council.

2. Purpose

The Chapter exists to connect Gamma Iota Sigma alumni in the Tampa Bay area for professional networking, mentorship of current collegiate members, continuing engagement with the risk management, insurance, and actuarial science industry, and service to the community — consistent with the National Fraternity's mission and values (Teamwork, Integrity, Excellence, Diversity, and Service).

3. Membership

3.1. Membership is open to (a) Gamma Iota Sigma alumni (initiated members of any collegiate chapter), and (b) other professionals in or connected to the risk management, insurance, and actuarial science industry who wish to network with the Chapter and support the National Fraternity's mission — in each case living or working in the greater Tampa Bay area, subject to approval by Chapter leadership consistent with National Fraternity policy.
3.2. Members in good standing are those current on any Chapter dues and not under active discipline.
3.3. Membership in this Chapter does not preclude membership in another Gamma Iota Sigma alumni chapter.

4. Dues

The Chapter does not currently charge dues. If dues are introduced, the amount will be set by Chapter leadership, communicated to members in advance, and published here.

5. Meetings

The Chapter will hold regular events/meetings (target: at least quarterly) for networking, professional development, and chapter business. Notice of meetings will be sent to all members in good standing in advance.

6. Officers

6.1. The Chapter is currently led by a small founding leadership team of two Co-Presidents, with additional Leadership Board seats open, serving through the chapter's launch phase.
6.2. As the Chapter grows, officer titles, election procedures, and term lengths (typically one year) will be formalized and voted on by the membership.
6.3. Officers are responsible for chapter administration, finances, communication with the National Fraternity and Alumni Council, and event planning.

7. Code of Conduct

Members are expected to conduct themselves professionally and with integrity at all Chapter events and in all Chapter communications, consistent with the National Fraternity's standards of conduct. Conduct concerns are handled by Chapter leadership, consistent with National Fraternity policy.

8. Amendments

These bylaws may be amended by a vote of members in good standing at a regular Chapter meeting, with advance notice of the proposed change. Material changes should also be shared with the National Fraternity Alumni Council.

9. Relationship to the National Fraternity

Where these Chapter bylaws are silent or in conflict, the governing documents and policies of Gamma Iota Sigma and its Alumni Council control.
