Privacy Policy

Most of what we hold is what you typed into this site:

• Join requests — your name, email, phone number, the company you work for and your position there, optionally your university and graduation year, and anything you write in the "about yourself" box.
• Event RSVPs — your name, email, optional phone, how many people you're bringing, and any notes.
• Chapter updates (email list) — just your email address.
• Messages you send us — the name, email address, optional subject, and message you type into the contact form on our Contact or Partner With Us pages. We keep the message so an officer can reply, and so it isn't lost if the notification email lands in a junk folder.
• Member accounts — if an officer approves your join request, the above becomes your member profile, along with a record of which events you attend.
• Donations — the name you enter and, if you give by card, your email from the payment receipt. Card numbers go directly to Stripe; they never reach this site or anyone in the chapter.
• App notifications — if you turn on event notifications, your browser gives us an anonymous delivery address for them. It isn't linked to your name.
• People you refer to us — if you tell us about someone else who might want to join, we store the contact details you give us so an officer can reach out once. See "If someone referred you" below.

We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views, so we can tell whether people are finding the chapter. It sets no cookies and doesn't identify you individually — we see that a page was viewed, not who viewed it. We don't use advertising trackers, and there are no third-party ad cookies on this site. The only cookies we set keep you logged in if you have a member or officer account.

We use it to run the chapter: reviewing membership requests, planning events and headcounts, checking members in, thanking donors, and sending chapter news you asked for. That's it.

We never sell or rent your information, and we don't share it with other organizations for their own use — including the national fraternity — except where you've asked us to or where the law requires it.

Two things appear publicly. The donor leaderboard shows your name and gift amount — but only if you leave the "Keep my donation off the public leaderboard" box unchecked when you give. Your email never appears there. And the leadership page lists chapter officers by name, title, and — if they choose to add one — an email address; that is the only place we publish an individual's contact details, and only for officers who opted in.

Running the site means using a few outside services. They store data on our behalf and are not allowed to use it for anything else:

• Supabase — the database and login system where all of the above is stored.
• Vercel — hosts the website. Like any web host, its server logs record the IP address and browser of each visit.
• Stripe — processes card donations and handles all payment details.
• Resend — sends the emails we send out.
• Zoho Mail — receives email sent to our chapter address, so anything you write to us is stored in their mailbox as well as ours.
• GitHub — holds our weekly database backup. It is a private snapshot of everything described above, kept for 90 days and then deleted automatically. Only chapter officers can reach it.
• LinkedIn — only if you RSVP to an event through LinkedIn rather than this site. Their registration form gives us your name, email, and the details you choose to share, which we add to that event's guest list here. LinkedIn is handling your information under their own privacy policy at that point, not ours.
• Your browser's push service (Google, Apple, or Mozilla, depending on your device) — only if you turn on event notifications. It relays each notification to you.

Member records and attendance history stay as long as you're part of the chapter, and for a reasonable period afterward as part of chapter history — unless you ask us to delete them. Donation records are kept for the chapter's financial records. Email list entries are deleted the moment you unsubscribe, so if you ever want back on you just sign up again. Rejected join requests are deleted at the time they're declined.

When we delete something it goes from our live records immediately. It can survive up to 90 days longer in the weekly backup described above, which expires on its own and which we don't go digging through. We would rather say that plainly than claim every trace vanishes the moment you ask.

Email us and we'll do it — no forms, no process. You can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. We'll confirm when it's done.

For the email list you don't have to ask anyone: unsubscribe here. Members can update their own profile any time from the member portal.

Someone may have passed along your name because they thought you'd want to know the chapter exists, or an officer may have noted you as someone worth inviting. Either way, you can tell us to stop and we will — one email is all it takes.

One honest detail, because it differs from the email list above: so we can't contact you again by mistake, we mark your record do-not-contact and keep the address for that purpose rather than erasing every trace of it. We never reach out again. If you'd rather we purge the record entirely, say so and we will.

This site is meant for professionals and university students. It isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
