About Gamma Iota Sigma – Tampa Bay
Gamma Iota Sigma – Tampa Bay Alumni Chapter
Gamma Iota Sigma is the international professional fraternity for students and professionals in risk management, insurance, and actuarial science. It was founded in 1965, and its first chapter was chartered in April 1966 at The Ohio State University. Today the fraternity spans 177 chapters nationwide and a network of more than 35,000 members and alumni, all connected by a shared commitment to the industry and to each other.
The Tampa Bay Alumni Chapter is one of the newest additions to that network — established in 2026 to give Gamma Iota Sigma alumni in the Tampa Bay area a way to stay connected after graduation: networking with fellow risk, insurance, and actuarial professionals, mentoring current collegiate members, and giving back to the industry that shaped our careers.
We are just getting started. Right now our chapter is a small, dedicated leadership team building the foundation — membership, events, and programming — ahead of our official launch. And you don't need a GIS pin to be part of it: membership is open to Gamma Iota Sigma alumni and to anyone in the risk management, insurance, or actuarial community who wants to network and support the fraternity's mission. If that's you, we'd love for you to be part of it from the beginning.
